1964 Fender Jaguar

This consignment piece is currently in the store so come on in and check it out!

If this old guitar could talk, I would love to ask it some questions. This is a late '64 L series Black Fender Jaguar with super rare gold hardware. It was purchased used in the early '70s and has spent the last 20 years inside the house.

There are a few mysteries about this guitar, first is the gold hardware and second is why the neck has been shaved down to an A width nut? The gold hardware is original Fender gold, but for some reason the 6th string tuner has been replaced with an even rarer single line Kluson? All of the electronics in this guitar are original with a few solder repairs on the slide switches and also the lead volume pot. The pickups may have been rewaxed at some stage. All of the pots date to late 1964 and the bobbins are black fiber. All of the shielding plate solder joints are intact.

The neck is interesting, it is stamped JUL64 B with an A in faded marker pen on top of the B. The neck has been shaved right to heel and the neck pocket fit is a fairly loose fit. The fret board has the original clay dots, but it has been refretted at least once. The slim profile and finish behavior under a black light suggest that the neck and headstock were both refinished when the mods were made.

It is a great player and those pickups have a very sweet tone. This is one of those guitars that you find hard to put down. It has the typical player wear of a fine guitar its age and the pics don't display its true beauty.
